Extremely grateful for the freedom of re-opened international borders in Australia and Thailand.
Our first official personally delivered on-the-ground overseas projects this week since February last year. That's was when sadly the "Give Love" annual Valentine's Day community support project in collaboration with Volunteer for the Visayans was forced to be cancelled upon request of the Philippines government due to developing covid concerns.
More updates on this weeks projects to follow soon.

Food Relief Project - June 2020 Update
Through the generous co-sponsorship support from A2B Solution Group & collaboration with Volunteer for the Visayans, recently United Aid Projects were able to provide much needed food supplies to 38 families in the Philippines locked-down community of Bliss, Tacloban.
The food relief packs included fresh eggs, noodles and rice. These packs were in addition to the monthly food subsidy provided to the families of the VFV sponsored children. These are the same children we have been regularly assisting the last 5 years through our swimming activities program.
With most of these families in tight community lock-down, no work in Philippines communities often equals no pay. This situation can easily result in another global crisis which some describe as a Hunger Pandemic. The UN body warns that potentially 265 Million people globally are risk of "Mega-famines" by the end of 2020.
Our recent food relief packs have greatly assisted the 38 families through a very challenging time for people globally. Of course it hasn't cured world famine but has certainly made a much needed difference in the lives of these 38 VFV Sponsored Children and their families.
If anyone would like to learn more about the VFV Child Sponsorship program, check out the link below or contact us directly:-

We would like to expand the distribution of the Food Relief Packs Project to other communities but ideally need further support like recently from our regular kind corporate co-sponsor, A2B Solution Group. Please contact us if you are in a position to help out in any way.
Also if you have time please check out our Corporate co-sponsor, A2B Solution Group via their website below. Anthony Brennan and his talented team are changing the Freight Forwarding & Logistics Industry via their tailored CargoWise One Workflow, Automated Solutions and Support Packages:-

Melbourne University Health Initiative (MUHI) Medical Aid Distribution - April/May 2020 Northern Samar Project
COVID-19 Lockdown around this world has different impact from country to country and those communities within them. Far flung rural communities in Developing Countries present the most challenges when it comes to international aid support.
Over the last few weeks we have taken on those challenges head on. Transporting via Air, Sea & Land much needed medical aid from Melbourne University's warehouse in northern suburbs of Melbourne to a remote northern community on the island Samar, Philippines. We managed to do what some people would say is impossible in these current global lockdown times.
Thank you Melbourne University Health Initiative for kindly supplying your medical aid and believing that this project would be successful.
Also thank you to the wonderful team at Volunteer for the Visayans for your great work in Tacloban and on-forwarding the donations to your neighboring island of Samar.
Finally many thanks to the Philippines Government protective forces personnel for ensuring the safe passage of the medical aid into Northern Samar.
Salamat 🙏 Les Treacy

Swimming Project 2020 update
We have been conducting swimming activities for sponsored children of the Volunteer for the Visayans child sponsorship program for the last 5 years since early 2015. These activities have traditionally been held twice yearly.
In 2020 we ideally would like to continue the swimming activities for these children. However it is with sadness that we announce that the annual April swimming event will not proceed this year. This particular program is now paused for at least 6 months and will provide further updates in the coming months.
We will focus on resuming our swimming activities programs later in the year.
It is our intention that our other exciting 2020 projects will continue as planned. However we must and will comply with any Philippines Government orders with regards to Coronavirus safety measures in place at the time.

"Give Love" 2020 Project update
Early last month we were forced to make a difficult decision to postpone the Valentine's Day special event due to Coronavirus safety measures, or otherwise run the risk of an event shutdown. Since then world has taken real positive action & a united approach to identify, control and treat those with the virus. The search for a cure also a focus of great minds around the world.
With regards to our plans for a rescheduled Give Love event in April, we have received an update from the Philippines Government which clears the path a little but still needs some further clarity.
What is clear is that special events are currently allowed for schools but we just need some clarity if overseas volunteers are allowed to be involved as event crew.
Last years Give Love event we had more than 12 international volunteers assisting with the successful event delivery. That same support or more is needed for this upcoming event.
We do have hope that April will continue otherwise June is our next opportunity when the new school year begins.

Tolibao Elementary School material aid project update
Revisiting schools that we support through our projects is important to keep those projects moving in the right direction.
It was great to see our equipment being incorporated into the classroom activities when we visited the remote seaside village of Tolibao.
Not the easiest remote village to access but the community is beautiful. Makes the long journey well worth it. The community is still recovering from the devastation caused by Typhoon Ursula 7 weeks ago.
Late last year we organised a fun end of year afternoon school event which included a donation of a large monitor/TV:-
facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3246782812060306&id=100001858586156&sfnsn=mo
The monitor is now helping the teaching staff to deliver lessons on a daily basis.
Also TV's are not common in this hard to reach village so the kids can also enjoy a movie or two outside of normal school hours from time-to-time.

Nutrition Project update
Always great to visit the Bliss Day Care Feeding Centre and even better to help Ma'am Joan with class activities.
Before the end of classes & feeding, the kids made Valentine's Day cards for their parents. Great to help them to complete their special activity.
Happy Valentine's Day friends!

"Give Love" 2020 Project update
In the Philippines with our projects, we always have expect the unexpected....
Due to a recent Philippines Government Order declaring no special events at schools for the month February, we must unfortunately postpone the Give Love event until at least April at this stage.
Following on from the order, there's also another Philippines Government direction advising the public to avoid large gatherings and crowded places.
These are both Coronavirus safety control measures. Understandably required at the moment.
On a more positive note, we can say that the extra time has now allowed us to plan a much bigger and better event for April. Very exciting for the 200+ young beneficiaries of this awesome event. More details to follow.
Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

Project Update: Laptops For Rural Classrooms - February 2020
Camansi Elementary School is the latest rural school to receive our assistance as part of this laptop project.
The school is a small village at the foot of the Leyte mountains far from the main island roads.
With 277 young local children attending classes held by 15 teachers, the days are long but most rewarding for all of staff.
The children go about their classes with huge smiles and always with an element of fun.
The two rebirthed laptops and accessories will certainly help computer studies teacher, Liezyl Joy Precia Sabino to deliver "hands-on" lessons to the children. Her own personal laptop was the only device used until now after devastating typhoons over the last 2-3 destroyed most of their government issues PC terminals.
We thank Principal Ma'am Alena M Delmo, teachers and students to allow us to visit your school. Especially during a period of government ordered "no special events" period as a result of Coronavirus safety/control measures 🙏
Also many thanks to the preloved laptop donors for helping to turn an idea into reality for many kids 🙏

"Give Love" 2020 Project update
Looking back at last year, the project reached out to 85 disadvantaged families living in the far-flung community of Lapay-Tanauan, Leyte.
In collaboration with Volunteer for the Visayans, it was United Aid Projects first public aid community event. We assisted in a 2nd public event in Vietnam later in the year.

"Give Love" 2020 Project update
With 14th February quickly approaching we take a look back to 2018 when the annual Give Love collaboration event between Volunteer for the Visayans & United Aid Projects first began.
That year with support from many kind family, friends & supporters the 2018 Give Love event brought joy & happiness to 170+ children and young adults on Valentine's Day.
The 4 government centres we visited were "Home for Girls", "Infants/Children's Orphanage", "Women Shelter" and "Boys Rehab Center".

The 2nd Sunday of the new decade brings new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of many in this world.
Thank you Michelle Martin, Carol Gould, Ashlee Treacy and Julie Ann Fairclough for your recent new & preloved clothing donations.
These donations will greatly help Tacloban communities recovering from the devastation of Typhoon Ursula over the Christmas period.
The annual community assistance project called "Give Love" on Valentine's Day will give us access to families that will most benefit from your generosity.
Salamat 🙏
